Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan will be PlatinumGames’ latest action title, and looks like a must-play for fans of the green teens.
As a big fan of PlatinumGames’ Transformers game, and of course Bayonetta, I’m maybe a little over-jazzed for this one. There’s just so much to like though; with a cel-shaded look (which looks to be based on the art of TMNT comics artist Mateus Santolouco), pretty much everyone that you’d expect to see, and that signature PlatinumGames gameplay, there really isn’t a lot not to dig.
I mean, you’ve got Rocksteady, Bebop, Shredder, the Turtles, some weird shark… guy (I have no idea who that is)- it looks great! According to the YouTube listing (not the press release), there’s plenty more that wasn’t in the trailer to the game as well. You can expect to see Krang (note the singular ‘a’) and some kind of new group called Foot by Foot. The classic Foot Clan is clearly mentioned in that release, so this may be a mistake, or there may be a new variation on Shredder’s clan in there in addition to the original urban-ninjas.
It’s probably safe to assume that there’s going to be a pretty solid story behind the gameplay too, seeing as IDW Publishing’s Tom Waltz is behind it. If you don’t know, he’s the scribe that works on the comics company’s ongoing TMNT series, so he knows his Turtles.
Though the game has been announced now, it’s not set to arrive for a little while. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan is scheduled to arrive some time this Summer on current and last-gen consoles as well as the PC.
