A younger, brasher and more violent Dark Knight takes to the frosty streets of Gotham City in the launch trailer for Warner Brothers’ Batman: Arkham Origins.
Developed by WB Games Montréal, Batman: Arkham Origins is based on DC Comics’ core Batman license and features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships.
Developer Warner Bros. Montreal had said this was going to be a grittier and less refined Batman in Arkham Origins than we had seen before in the series. From the trailer, that certainly looks to be the case as the Dark Knight Detective seems to be a mix of Christian Bale’s Batman from The Dark Knight trilogy the more Batman: The Animated Series type hero we saw in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.
Both types are iconic at this point and the mixture comes off pretty awesome, at least it does from the trailer. As a fan of not only both the movies and the animated show I referenced above, but the actual character and the comics he appears in- I’m really excited to see how this new, younger take on the Batman turns out.
Find out just how dark the Knight can be when Batman: Arkham Origins arrives for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, and Windows PC this coming Friday (October 25th).
