Command & Conquer Remastered Collection update adds private lobbies

Electronic Arts and Petroglyph Games recently gave us a wonderful remaster of two classic real-time strategy games in the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection. Allowing players to relive the nostalgia from yesteryear with a fresh coat of paint, it brought the fun of pixellated warfare to 4K goodness like never before. But while the games played like what you would expect, they did lack some modern features.

Now, Petroglyph has released a new patch to help remedy that. It makes plenty of changes and improvements, including adding private game lobbies to the experience.

Laundry list

Fan feedback has proven key to the changes. The team has specifically pushed out this update to address the concerns of the passionate fanbase. Aside from private game lobbies, the team drew attention to two other important patch changes. First up, stuttering issues have affected players at launch, and the patch addresses that by tweaking the game’s loading. This will likely result in longer loading times for Command & Conquer Remastered Collection, as well as the first map.

Secondly, with the new update, mods that previously worked for both games will likely be rendered incompatible. Modders will have to update their mods to get them working again. Thankfully, the developers have provided a tool to make the process easier.

For those looking to set up battles with friends, the private game lobbies will be a godsend. All you need to do is check the option, provide a passcode, and you are all set to destroy your friends.

These changes will come alongside a number of other quality-of-life improvements. Hopefully, the Harvesters will work better now instead of venturing further into enemy territory for more Tiberium. Bug fixes are also included, and the team wants to make sure that players’ experience in Command & Conquer Remastered Collection continues to be a smooth time. Make sure to check out the full patch notes for all of the details.
