With the Total War franchise having just celebrated its 20th anniversary, fans are definitely eager to find out more about what is to come. Creative Assembly certainly did not disappoint, revealing plenty of DLCs coming to its selection of games. This includes DLC for Total War Saga: Troy, Total War: Three Kingdoms, and Total War: Warhammer II. However, that is not all. The company has now revealed Total War: Warhammer – Savage Edition, a retail version of the first game that will certainly please the hardcore fans.
Total War: Warhammer – Savage Edition will be a limited physical edition release of Total War: Warhammer. It includes two DLC Race Packs – Chaos Warriors and Call of the Beastmen. Together, the added content brings five additional Legendary Lords with new units, quest chains, and gameplay mechanics to the Old World. It is likely this package will retail for a price that is less than the sum of its parts separately.
A substantial offering
If you are wondering what the two Race Packs contain, they include:
- Chaos Warriors – Beyond the barren Norsca Peninsula lie the Chaos Wastes, a land shrouded in darkness from which all manner of nightmarish creatures spew forth. Lead the corrupted hordes and lay waste to the Old World as the dreaded Chaos Warriors with three new playable Legendary Lords and their horde armies of monsters.
- Call of the Beastmen – Moving like a plague across the Old World, are a feral, Chaos-tainted horde race of half-human aberrations and monstrous creatures. Alongside two new Legendary Lords which are playable in the Grand Campaign, The Beastmen also bring their very own Story Campaign, An Eye For An Eye.
A move to a physical release for Total War: Warhammer – Savage Edition is definitely a surprise. It could hint at how Creative Assembly might be looking at DLC moving forward. As revealed, the Lords Pack for Total War: Warhammer II will see the return of the Wood Elves. However, there will be a free Legendary Lord added for anyone who owns the original Realm of the Wood Elves DLC from the first game.
This could be what lies in wait for the Chaos Warriors and Beastmen. Owning them via the Total War: Warhammer – Savage Edition will probably grant you bonus content when they arrive in Total War: Warhammer II. That will keep players invested and coming back for more. Now, that is some astute planning.
