Sega and Relic’s Company of Heroes 3 will usher in a few changes of the long-running series, including a heavy dose of battlefield destruction.
Not just superficial
When you talk about ‘destruction’ in games, there are really two flavors. The one that you find more than not, is just superficial ruin. Yes, thing blow up and collapse, but that destruction doesn’t really do anything.
Then though, there’s the flip side of that coin. Games that allow players to demolish set pieces, knock down buildings, and punch holes in the landscape can open up whole new levels of interactivity and even strategy. And it’s the latter category that Sega and Relic’s Company of Heroes 3 will fall into.
Falling buildings will allow players to take cover in their wake, but it goes even deeper than that. You’ll actually be able to use rubble offensively, knocking debris onto enemy units to crush them. Maybe coolest though, is the stuff you can do before the engagement begins. Wanna decimate a battlefield ahead of time? Two words: bombing runs.
Company of Heroes 3 is the ultimate package of action, tactics, and strategy. Take charge in the heat of real-time battle, then command as a General, guiding the overall campaign where every decision matters. Overwhelm your opponents with new and familiar factions, units, and international Battlegroups. Command ground, air and naval forces and build supply lines to crush enemy advances on the new Dynamic Campaign Map – no two playthroughs are ever alike!
