Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation isn’t just one of the scariest-looking games you’re likely to find this Autumn, but it’s a spook-fest that’s set to last a good long time too with the just announced slate of DLC.
So there’s a good deal of challenge to be had here then, well past the story missions. As long as downloadable-content is your thing, the Survivor add-on packs should be just the trick to expand the experience that Isolation offers. A total of six packs are coming in total, all of which will be become available for purchase in timed fashion, from just after the game’s launch on October 28th till March 2015. The mode will shift players from a narrative-based game, to a more straightforward arcade-y vibe, which sounds like a perfect transition in the case of this xenomorphic survival-horror title.
“At this year’s E3 and a number of subsequent events, we put the Survivor Mode demo into the hands of the world’s press and consumers and the reception was incredible,” said Al Hope, Creative Lead on Alien: Isolation. “This is the game in its purest form; it’s you against the creature and it’s against the clock. It was just fantastic watching players leave the demo with a strange mix of joy, terror and relief at simply surviving, before jumping back in and try to tackle it in a different way to beat their time!”
Alien: Isolation will ship with a demo for the first pack, called Basement, which will include one new map for you to make it through. Past that, the next four releases in the set (as it stands now) will include a trio of maps each, as well as one new playable character and a “variety of enemy types” that’ll be standing between you and, well, living.
Available separately, a season pass will also be made available at launch-time that will give you a neat little 25% off discount on the pricing should you want all five packs. As for the base game itself, Alien: Isolation from Sega and Creative Assembly lands on the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on October 7th.
