Dying Light 2 delayed again

Add Dying Light 2 to the list of 2020 delays, though this one is harsher sounding than the last few. The zombie title is on hold with no new date.

Delay of apocalypse

It’s not a really great time for big studio ‘zombie’ games. While the undead have still figured into all kinds of games out there, a few marquee titles have seemingly slipped into oblivion.

That includes the oft-mentioned/seldom-seen Dead Island 2, and now the sequel to Dying Light. Techland has announced that the parkour-centric action game will need more time in the development oven.

Industry website MCV points out that the game was originally set for launch last year. It was pushed into the current year though, spring to be exact, and has now been delayed again.

This time though, as we mentioned above, there is no new release window. For its part, Techland sent out a statement via Twitter to fans, stating that the game needs more “development time” to fulfill the company’s “vision”.

Does that mean that Dying Light 2, as we saw it last still exists, or could big changes be in store? Also worth wondering about is if it might it be set to receive a next generation bump? Remember that the PS5 and next-gen Xbox will both be landing at retail in the fall, so a move to those consoles could be in the cards.

Stay tuned, we’ll have more on Dying Light 2 as it’s announced.
