Episode 3 of Game of Thrones hits today with The Sword in the Darkness

The third of six episodes, The Sword in the Darkness rolls Telltale Games’ Game of Thrones’ tale forward.

House Forrester isn’t looking its best in episode 3, not by a long shot. Stuck in the midst of the War of Five Kings, which has already come to a close on the Game of Thrones HBO show, the Forrester clan is torn between who they ally themselves with, and who can eradicate them with little effort. And then of course, there’s that dragon…

In Episode 3, the exiled Asher Forrester heads to Mereen in search of an army to take on the Whitehills. Meanwhile, far across land and sea in Westeros, Mira Forrester must deal with the lethal politics of King’s Landing. Her family’s safety is paramount and she will do anything to protect them, but nothing is given freely, and her choice of allies may soon come to haunt her. To the north, in Ironrath, the Whitehill occupation continues. Gryff Whitehill, fourth-born son, is out to prove himself, and brutality and violence grows daily, pushing the Forresters to make far-reaching decisions. Finally, at the Wall, Gared Forrester learns that he must head north if he is to help his house survive. But fate is cruel, forcing choices that will change his path forever.

“The saga of House Forrester has players embracing interactive drama across the entire realm,” said Kevin Bruner, CEO and Co-Founder of Telltale Games. “The table has been set for a growing conflict that boils with the kind of intrigue we know that fans will love, and this episode also ushers in some of the most epic action and set pieces for the game series thus far. We simply cannot wait for players to see what’s in store, but to say anything more would spoil some of the biggest surprises yet.”

So far, the story has paid off for fans, despite a few little technical issues, and the series is far and away the best Game of Thrones video game to ever see publication on consoles or the PC. Pretty needless to say, but if you’ve been playing till now, you don’t want to skip this one.

Episode 3 of Game of Thrones, A Sword in the Darkness, is available now for consoles and the PC, and will be hitting iOS and Android devices on the 26th.
