Phoenix Online Studio and developer Mad Orange have a brand new adventure game in the works, and this is one for the film noir set.
Face Noir has actually been available for a while now in some European countries, but this is the first time that North American audiences will get to check out the gritty detective story. A point and click adventure game in the classic style, Face Noire takes place in Depression era New York City.
A moody tale that combines the intrigue and atmosphere of a Raymond Chandler novel or Humphrey Bogart film with classic point-and-click adventure gameplay, Face Noir follows private eye Jack del Nero as he’s falsely accused of murdering the man who left a little girl in his protection. As Jack tries to figure out who she is and clear his name, the disillusioned detective finds himself up against a city infested with corruption and economic uncertainty. And he discovers more about human nature than he ever wanted to know along the way.
Although the game takes place in NYC, and is basically an American story, Italian indie developer Mad Orange is the game’s creator an that’s why the title hasn’t been available in the States previously. It’s only through a partnership with Phoenix Online Studio that it’s even seeing the light of day in the US at all.
There aren’t many games that still use the traditional adventure game controls and there are even fewer that showcase a Film Noir style, so this is one that fans of both might want to watch closely. Face Noire will be available for download on July 18th in the US, but is on sale right now as a preorder incentive for 20% off the usual $19.99 USD asking price with the added bonus of a MP3 soundtrack.
