A fresh pair of Sega classics have joined the company’s “Ages” lineup on Nintendo Switch. Fantasy Zone and Shinobi are available now.
Back to the classics
Slowly but surely, Sega has been building a very nice little virtual console all for itself on Nintendo’s Switch. Called Sega Ages, the collection is a set of games from the publisher’s glorious past.
Not limited to one singular era, the Ages brand spans Sega’s… ages. That means games like Space Harrier, Sonic the Hedgehog and more all are considered for release under the banner. This week however, we have a pair of titles from roughly the same timeframe.
Originally starting as arcade games, both eventually hit the Sega Master System before being ported to numerous other consoles in the years that followed.
Ninjutsu master Joe Musashi returns in this classic side-scrolling platformer. He has been sent on a mission to single-handedly find and rescue all the children of the Oboro clan who have been kidnapped by a criminal syndicate known as ZEED. Utilize your sharp sword, shurikens, throwing knives, and even magic to defeat the enemy and free the hostages.
A pioneer of the “cute ’em up” genre, Fantasy Zone tells a surprisingly bleak tale about the mighty space warrior Opa-Opa’s journey for revenge in a pastel-colored world. Defeat enemies to collect coins and power up Opa-Opa in order to rescue the world of Fantasy Zone in this exciting classic!
Both of the above are available as separate purchases on the Switch, and each one will run you $7.99 USD.
