The Domain of Furious Thunder presents a new challenge in the Twisted Realm, and it’s now available since Act 2 of the Energy Amplifier Initiation event is live. In this location, you’ll face off against 16 enemies, and lightning can blast you if you’re not careful. Thankfully, there are new crystals that can make the encounter easier. Here’s our Genshin Impact Energy Amplifier Initiation guide to help you with the Twisted Realm’s Domain of Furious Thunder, the modifiers in place, and the extra crystals that you can use.

Genshin Impact guide: The Twisted Realm’s Domain of Furious Thunder – New crystals, modifiers, and tips
Ley Line Disorder: Plasma Field
Anyway, let’s say you’ve completed Where Shadows Writhe. That dungeon should give you an idea of what you can expect once you enter the Twisted Realm’s Domain of Furious Thunder in Genshin Impact. The Plasma Field mechanic can be quite deadly, as it requires you to stay within the purple circle while fighting mobs. If you’re outside its radius, your characters will get blasted by lightning every couple of seconds. Moreover, the safe zone provided by this circle will get smaller as time passes.
Combined with several ranged opponents hitting you from afar, this can lead to serious mishaps. Your best bet is to use bow users to also fight them at a distance, or have melee characters close the gap while protected by a shield or while under the effects of healing abilities.
New modifiers for increased difficulty and scores
As usual, the maximum number of points you can get from the Twisted Realm’s Domain of Furious Thunder is 8,000. This is if you jack up the difficulty while adding several detrimental modifiers.
Here are the ones that you’ll see this time around:
|Main Modifiers||Difficulty: Easy/Normal/Hard/Expert||Increases your overall score by x1/x2/x3/x5|
|Time Limit: 10 minutes/5 minutes/2 minutes||150/300/400|
|HP increase for opponents: 25%/100%/200%||150/300/400|
|Challenge Criteria||+50% Electro resistance (enemy)||25|
|+50% Pyro resistance (enemy)||25|
|+50% ATK (enemy)||50|
|-15% movement speed (party)||50|
|-30% energy recharge rate (party)||25|
|+35% increased damage for 10 seconds after sprinting (party)||25|
|+25% damage taken after using an elemental burst; stacks up to 4 times (partry)||25|
|-50% ATK when HP is below 50% (active character)||25|
|-50% movement speed when HP is below 50% (active character)||25|
|Special Modifiers||Large Pyro Slimes have the “Smoldering Flames” ability – These pulses inflict the Pyro status and Pyro damage on your characters until the effect is removed.||50|
|Blazing Axe Mitachurls have the “Smoldering Flames” ability (the same effect is mentioned above).||50|
|Electro Fatui Skirmishers have the “Engulfing Storm” ability – These pulses will inflict the Electro status on characters while continuously draining their energy until the effect is removed.||50|
|All characters lose 15 energy when hit by a lightning bolt from the plasma field (whenever you’re outside the purple circle).||50|
|The initial safe zone/purple circle is smaller.||25|
Naturally, you’re not required to select all the modifiers just to get the maximum score. That’s only if you want the bragging rights or extra points to speed up the acquisition of items in the event shop. Still, since there are two more Twisted Realm domains, and the maximum cumulative score you can get is 20,000, then it should be fine to obtain just around 5,000 points for this challenge.
I personally selected all the challenge criteria and special modifiers for this battle. However, I did select the 300-second/five-minute time limit and just the 25% boost to enemy health.
Assuming you’ve activated all the Irminsul Fruit Fragments in Act 2’s places of interest (i.e., Cuijue Slope, Nantianmen, and Dadaupa Gorge), then you should have an additional 12 Energy Amplifier crystals. Combined with those that you’ve acquired from Act 1, you’ve now got a total of 24 of these. You can check out a list of the new additions here.
For my part, I opted to select the following during my first clear:
- Hunter’s Romp – Since I was using Ganyu as my main DPS in the Domain of Furious Thunder, the extra boost to charged attacks was great.
- Ironbow – Again, this is something that buffs up bow-wielding characters like Ganyu as long as you hit enemy weak spots.
- Frostbite – It boosts your damage against Cryo-affected enemies.
- Execution – That executioner’s blade can help take out opponents once they’re low on health and you hit them with charged attacks.
- Challenger – Given how a few enemies would surround you, the slight increases to your ATK and DEF are quite nice.
- Whirlpool – Kills with charged attacks spawn a vacuum that pulls hostiles, dealing a ton of damage in turn. The problem, however, isn’t just that the radius is quite small. It’s also because the vacuum is spawned on your character’s location. As such, this wasn’t actually helpful when I used Ganyu.
Note 2: Don’t forget, the Energy Amplifier Crystals that you obtained from Act 1 can still be used. As such, you can play around with Geo-shielding and healing boosts, or AoE shockwave-based procs.
Twisted Realm – Domain of Furious Thunder encounter
As mentioned earlier, there are 16 enemies to eliminate in the Twisted Realm’s Domain of Furious Thunder in Genshin Impact. The whole battle starts with you facing off against several Pyro slimes and hilichurl archers. That’s followed by more hilichurls, samachurls, and mitachurls. After defeating 13 opponents, the final wave spawns. It has three Fatui skirmishers (one Electro and two Pyro).
You’ll notice an emphasis on Electro and Pyro damage. This is to amplify and increase the chance that you’ll get annihilated by Overload procs (i.e., from enemy hits or the lightning strikes when you’re outside the purple circle). As such, it’s often important to take out ranged opponents first. You can either snipe them or heal up/get shielded before pouncing. Otherwise, taking a single hit could proc multiple instances of damage, enough to knock out your characters in seconds.
If ever you do fail your first attempt, or if it’s not going so well, you can always exit and re-enter the area. Your characters will be revived and fully healed, and your elemental bursts will also be fully charged before starting the encounter.
