With Halo 3 finally making its way to PC via the Master Chief Collection, we can expect test runs for the first-person shooter to begin real soon. While no specific date has been given, the first few weeks of June have been marked as the potential start of tests, or “flights”, for Halo 3. In a new development update, 343 Industries and community manager Tyler “Postums” Davis have shared even more details for fans looking forward to it.
Flight details revealed
The upcoming Halo 3 flight will hope to address several goals. This includes testing the “distribution pipeline, test updates to Challenges,” and gathering feedback on the flight’s content. The tests will also help ensure all supporting systems function properly in preparation for bringing Halo 3 to PC. Of course, other than that, the test will include plenty of highly-anticipated content.
For most players, the presence of the Forge will be an exciting one. This will allow you to customize maps to create your own unique games. The likes of Infection as well as the standard competitive multiplayer options will be made available as well. You can bring the fight to others on maps such as Construct, Guardian, Last Resort, and more.
This is in addition to five different campaign missions, each with the options of difficulty and even co-op play. These missions include Sierra 117, The Storm, The Ark, The Covenant, and Halo.
This Halo 3 flight will also have updated customization and a Theater mode. Plus, 343 will make the complete challenge system available for the very first time.
While 343 has yet to reveal the specific timing of the Halo 3 flight, interested players should get ready. You will need to be a Halo Insider to qualify. “Ensuring you are up-to-date and registered with a valid (and verified!) email, greatly improves your chances of being selected for flights,” the blog post emphasizes.
As part of the update, the team also went into more detail about the development. For fans interested to know more about bugs, quality assurance, design, and other aspects, make sure to check out the full blog post.
