It has taken a while, but soon, PC players will finally get to experience Halo 4 via flighting in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The first preview will come via the October test flight, and 343 Industries has shared more details about what will be tested as part of the process. By the sound of things, it is way more than just quality of life and graphics improvements we are looking at.
As far as core testing goes, 343 will be testing the distribution pipelines and gathering feedback on the content to make sure all of the supporting systems put in place work as planned. This will help ensure that Halo 4 arrives in the Halo: The Master Chief Collection at its best.
The process will also involve testing to see how certain Campaign and Spartan Ops missions work for the PC version of Halo 4. 343 will monitor things to ensure the new features do not accidentally break the game. If everything goes fine, then players will have more to look forward to. Examples include the ability to create custom maps in Forge mode, Spartan customization, theatre mode, and challenges. Season 4 content and options for input-based matchmaking and crossplay with Xbox One will also be tested.
Adding more spice
Forge mode in particular, is getting a big addition with something called the “Thorage treatment.”
This will allow for a number of objects to be added to the canvas maps. They come from other multiplayer maps, campaign, and even Spartan Ops. The objects are not just visual items, but can also be used for new gameplay options. The Forge budget and object quotas will see increases, too.
The more specific Halo 4 focus will be on multiplayer. While details are still scarce over the actual maps and ranked modes, we do know what the unranked modes will be. Players can look forward to 4v4 or 8v8 Team Deathmatch, 8-Player Free-for-All, and 12-Player Infection. The Halo 4 test flight will also allow for some new settings configuration. Controls, video, audio, gameplay, and accessibility options are covered, so players of all kinds are accommodated.
The Halo 4 flighting for Halo: Master Chief Collection on PC doesn’t have an exact start date, but it will take place this month. Also, you will need to be a Halo Insider to participate.
