Custom appearances are all the rage these day,s and the Halo series is no stranger to the concept. Critics praised Halo 3 for its variety of armor options and color choices when it released in 2007. Back then, customization was still a novel idea for many multiplayer games. Therefore, it makes sense to see 343 Industries working to expand on the original options in 2020. The Halo MCC Season 3 update will liven-up Bungie’s Halo 3 masterpiece soon.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection began rolling out on PC back in November 2019. Halo: Reach debuted with a “Noble Season,” which allowed players to obtain various unlockables similar to how the original game awarded them. Most players probably didn’t think much of it, as it wasn’t anything new. In fact, the seasons were generally forgotten as additional games were added to MCC.
343 Industries definitely caught fans off-guard though when it announced Season 2. The developer detailed plans for Halo 1 cosmetics like custom visors, custom nameplates, and weapons and vehicle skins. Furthermore, 343 promised future additions for each title in the collection. Fast forward to now, and we at last have a preview for Halo 3-themed cosmetics, which are sure to be popular once public.
Just like with the previous seasons, Halo MCC Season 3 will deliver custom visors, more nameplates and weapons skins. Vehicle skins are likely on the way too, but they were not included in the flight content and remain unconfirmed. We can see that 343 Industries intends to follow a pattern at this point though. Season 3 will likely coincide with the addition of Halo 3: ODST to the collection, as was the case with Halo: 3 and Season 2.
Professional, prestigious, and loud
The flight previewed nameplates, some weapons skins, and a large number of visor options. The visors look awesome and truly add a new layer of flavor to certain helmets. As far as the weapons, there are sure to be many more to come, as all of the Halo 1 weapons received multiple custom looks. Some of the weapon skins are pretty standard, like the gold and camo options, but they certainly look nice. Others however, are a bit over the top. I suppose if you want to make enemies feel embarrassed, you can kill them as a pink Spartan with a rainbow-colored Assault Rifle. Fortunately, most of the appearances fit the series. If you liked Halo 5‘s skin options, Halo MCC Season 3 will please.
Halo 3: ODST will also see the return of player variants for the popular Firefight mode, and those are part of the season pass. Everything seems incredibly smooth in the flight, so eager ODSTs looking to drop feet first into Hell can feel assured that the game is stable and polished.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available on Steam and the Microsoft Store for $39.99 USD. It currently includes Halo: Reach, Halo 1, Halo 2, and Halo 3. Halo 3: ODST is currently in the testing phase and will likely be added within the next month. Halo 4 will be the final addition later this year.
