Hitman 3's Year 2 content will be revealed on Thursday

Hitman 3‘s getting its first major Year 2 content reveal on January 13 during a reveal stream. It’ll feature more information on graphical enhancements, additions to the Elusive Target mode, and the inclusion of VR, as well as new footage. That’s only the beginning, too, with the developer planning to bring more content to Hitman 3 throughout the year.

Arguably the biggest inclusion in January’s update is the VR mode. It was previously exclusive to the PS4 version of the game, and it wasn’t clear if VR support would ever come to PC. But, on January 20, players will be able to take out their targets in a more personal manner. The already excellent Hitman 3 is looking to have a pretty strong year in 2022.

Hitman 3 has a big year ahead

The first addition that Hitman 3‘s Year 2 content will bring is ray tracing. The advanced lighting system impacts most mid-range graphics cards pretty hard, but players who are able to use it without issue are in for a treat. Chongqing, a map that has rain-soaked streets and neon signs littered about everywhere should look stunning. Dubai’s towering scenery could also massively benefit from the addition of ray tracing.

Details on the addition of VR remain scarce, and the supported headsets haven’t been confirmed just yet. The announcement video for the Year 2 roadmap did show developers using both the Valve Index and Meta Rift S, though. So, it’s safe to assume that these will be supported, but wait for confirmation first. General improvements have been made to the VR mode as a whole as well. It now supports full motion controller support, unlike the PSVR which could only make use of the DualShock 4. The performance may also be substantially better than it was on PlayStation 4, but more details on that will need to wait for the VR mode’s full release.

Another addition that comes with this update is the Elusive Target Arcade. IO Interactive hasn’t shared many details about it other than stating that it’s a “change to the established formula” of the Elusive Target mode. It also mentioned that all content found in the game mode will be a permanent addition, as opposed to the limited time nature of standard Elusive Targets.

The announcement for the start of Hitman 3‘s Year 2 content will happen on January 13 during a pre-recorded stream on the official YouTube channel. Keep an eye out for even more content in Spring 2022, when the next big update for Hitman 3 is due.
