Hardspace: Shipbreaker is a new entry into the sandbox space salvaging genre. Developed by Blackbird Interactive, of Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak fame, and published by Focus Home Interactive, Hardspace will see you shipped off the Earth’s surface and cutting up old spaceships as quickly as you can sign on the dotted line. And you won’t have to wait too much longer to do that. Hardspace: Shipbreaker will come to PC via Steam Early Access on June 16.
The release date announcement for Hardspace: Shipbreaker is accompanied by a new gameplay overview trailer. It runs through all the ins and outs of being a shipbreaker. If you do a good job, you can make a killing – for someone else. You’re massively indebted to Lynx Corporation for shooting you up into space. If you do a bad job, well, you’ll just be killed. And nobody wants that. Particularly not the good (read: heartless) people at Lynx who invested so much in you (read: want you to make them more money). Dying isn’t profitable, after all.
Slice ’em open
Inside every vessel lies wealth (again, not for you), hidden dangers, valuable logs, and the deep history of this brand-new sci-fi universe. As you hone your skills, you’ll learn the best way to tackle each vessel and be able to expand and upgrade your high-tech salvaging tools. Along the way, you’ll hopefully also make a tiny little home for yourself in the vastness of space.
Blackbird Interactive intends to have Hardspace: Shipbreaker in tip-top shape and shipped out for full release after a year of Early Access. But you know how it goes with space engineering. Sometimes, things take a bit longer than expected. For now, you can add the game to your Steam wishlist to stay on the cutting edge of Hardspace: Shipbreaker updates.
