Ubisoft has officially announced the release date for Obsidian’s latest with a brand new (completely insane) trailer.
Arm yourself with weapons of legend to defeat underpants gnomes, hippies and other forces of evil. Discover the lost Stick of Truth and earn your place at the side of Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny as their new friend. Succeed, and you shall be South Park’s saviour, cementing your social status in South Park Elementary. Fail, and you will forever be known as a loser.
There definitely hasn’t been a game that’s captured that special brand of South Park lunacy the way this one looks to. In fact, I can’t really remember a game licensed from any TV show that’s been as well put together ad South Park: The Stick of Truth looks.
Aside from having all of the characters represented (even the minor ones), South Park just plain looks and sounds like an episode of the cartoon show. Usually saying a game looks like a playable episode of anything would be a bad thing, but that’s about as far from the case with The Stick of Truth as can be and with Obsidian as the developer, it’s almost a sure thing that the gameplay and storyline will back up the audio/visual presentation. If you’re not familiar, the developer is responsible for games like Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II and Neverwinter Nights 2- so they know a little something about making games.
Fans will finally be able to sit down and battle their way through the universe Matt Stone and Trey Parker built when Ubisoft and Obsidian Entertainment’s South Park: The Stick of Truth arrives for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 19th in the US and December 13th in the UK.
