Casting spells in virtual reality just got a little better thanks to SpellPunk VR’s latest update, which adds content and beefs up the gameplay.
We told you about SpellPunk VR recently, the virtual reality game that pits mage against mage. In it, VR gamers cast spells by actually drawing them out in space. The whole thing has a slick comic book vibe to it, and looks like a title that headset-owners might want to check out.
Now it’s worth even more of a look, thanks to developer Incineration Productions’ latest update. It’s a chunky set of improvements that focuses on the actual spell casting system, as well as combat training.
Spell symbols are now more easily cast, with the recognition system optimized to detect each of the game’s hand-drawn spells with greater variance. Mages can now more effectively cast their chosen spells amidst frantic battles without the concern of being overly precise in their symbol drawing.
In addition to that, the game now sports a training system. It’s there that would-be mages can practice their casting, getting sharp before trying their magical prowess against computer controlled or online opponents.

If you don’t see your headset there, Incineration says support might be coming up, since the game is technically still in early access. Likewise, they promise more “features and content” are inbound.
