Summer Games Done Quick 2022 schedule ends with two Elden Ring runs

Runners, start your engines: Summer Games Done Quick is returning in June. Over the weekend, Games Done Quick released the schedule for SGDQ 2022, which is closing out with not just one, but two Elden Ring speedruns. If you’ve been dying (again and again) to see how such a tough game is beaten quick, you’ll get your chance next month. You’ll get two, surprisingly.

It all cracks off on June 26 at 11:30 AM ET. SGDQ 2022 will begin with a pre-show with the GDQ crew before diving into to the first speedrun of the event: Shadow of the Colossus (under a random boss rush category). The event will run 24 hours a day for a week, ending on Sunday, July 3. To close, SGDQ 2022 has two Elden Ring runs, with the second as a bonus. The first run is the “All Remembrances” category, which means the runner, catalystz, will kill every boss that drops a Remembrance. And the bonus run is any%, which means getting to the credits screen as fast as possible.

Like previous shows, SGDQ 2022 is a charity event. While live, the organization will take donations to support Doctors Without Borders, an international medical organization that provides aid “where needed most.” Last year, SGDQ 2021 brought in $2.9 million USD for the organization. At the time, it broke a record for most earned for the prior online events. That record, however, was broken yet again earlier this year when AGDQ 2022 raked in more than $3.4 million USD.

Going back to the in-person event

Unlike shows from the last couple of years, SGDQ 2022 is scheduled to be live and in person in Bloomington, MN. It’ll be the first live event since AGDQ 2020, months before Covid sent everyone into lockdown. There are some rules, naturally. All attendees need to have proof of vaccination, and are required to wear a KN95, N95, or KF94 mask. Organizers will promote social distancing, and there will be a lower attendance cap. Depending on how things go, the in-person portion may get canceled and attendees will be reimbursed for tickets.

Elden Ring, obviously, isn’t the only game that’ll be played at SGDQ 2022. There are tons, ranging from modern to retro titles. The list includes Perfect Dark, Halo Infinite, Sonic Advance, and a whole lot more. There will also be “Bad Games Done Quick,” which highlights some of the “worst” games played at their best. It’ll be a fun show, and it’ll be live on June 26.
