Meet some of the new Skylanders characters in the all-new Boomcast, hosted by Diary of a Wimpy Kid’s Zachary Gordon.
If you couldn’t tell, the Boomcast is skewed towards younger fans of the popular toys-to-life series with a focus on the characters that inhabit Skylands and getting fans involved by doing things like showing off the audience’s own artwork. The show will air every week with a new episode where publisher Activision will release info about some of the new characters and more.
“Our young fans have a tremendous appetite for all things Skylanders. Skylanders Boomcast is an innovative way to turn marketing content into entertainment content,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. “This will be the destination where our fans can dive deeper into the world of Skylanders than ever before.”
The Boomcast is definitely something innovative. I can’t think of another program (in any format) from a company that actually talks up the product they’re selling. Honestly, I can’t even think of one from any point in the past. It’s marketing sure, but it’s smart marketing that’s actually kind of fun.
