System shock, a game that made a special place in 90s PC gamer’s heart is launching Kickstarter campaign next week.
The developer Night Dive Studios told Polygon that the upcoming re-imagination of Looking Glass Technologies’ 1994 game has a new name now: System Shock.
“After two decades, we are remastering and re-imagining the original System Shock. We will keep the new game true to the classic experience, keeping all the things you loved, while updating the user interface and graphics to use a modern day engine (Unity). With the help of the original concept artist, the original vision of the Citadel Station and its inhabitants will finally come back to life.”-Night Dive Studio
When the crowdfunding campaign will start at 12 p.m. PT next Tuesday, June 28, backers will have a chance to play the game. A short demo will be available through Steam, GOG and Humble on the same day.
Apart from this, there will be some campaign rewards too that includes:
- a collector’s edition box with a physical copy of the game (Both PC and Xbox One)
- a miniature and a manual, among other items;
There’s also a Razer-brand laptop with the game’s theme-centric detailing. These and other rewards are still being revised ahead of the crowdfunding campaign’s launch.
The Pre-alpha trailer is gorgeous and feels like a sweet déjà vu. With the full release of this game sometime in next year, there is a great opportunity for the gamers to return to the world of new remastered System Shock.
