FreeStyleGames lifts the velvet ropes and takes you back behind the development on the first Guitar Hero title for the new generation of consoles.
Pretty cool stuff, and a pretty cool game as well. Guitar Hero Live plays great and makes some very interesting changes to the formula that we’ve all gotten to know (at times) all too well over the last decade or so. I had the chance to play it at the unveiling event in NYC recently though, and FreeStyleGames has done a terrific job of getting gameplay to feel comfortably familiar, while still adding the new elements like the first-person view and that new guitar controller.
And the crowd and band that you saw in the video above? It comes off perfectly in game. Seriously, not only does it look and feel like you’re on stage, but it actually flows super-well, changing from a happy crowd to an angry one if you start to have… trouble. And don’t ask me how I know that.
Tuning up for an end-of-year release, Guitar Hero Live will be on the shelves for the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U this Fall.
