It’ll probably be big in very sense of the word, but the Wii U’s first real Legend of Zelda title will be a physically huge game that dwarfs what’s come before.
Remember how expansive you thought the world of Twilight Princess was? Well, Zelda on the Wii U laughs at that. The entire map of Twilight Princess is basically just one area in what’s on the drawing boards and in development right now for Wii U gamers to play with.
Legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto spoke about the ambitious new title and said that, since the Wii was so limited, there was only a few things they could do in making a big world to play in. With the Wii U though, that’s a bit different. Even thought the Nintendo console isn’t the most powerful on the shelves right now, it definitely is no slouch and is cable of some pretty spectacular looking graphics.
We already knew the new Zelda was going to be a looker, and now we know it’s going to be an absolutely massive RPG too as Miyamoto added that the entirety of Twilight Princess fits into just one zone of the upcoming game. And while all that space equates to a lot more to do, it’s with an eye towards quick play sessions that this one is being developed.
That’s right, although the two philosophies seem pretty disparate, Miyamoto says that the massive game will be totally playable in small bites where gamers can sit down and play for a bit, get a few things done in the world, and then turn it off and go about their real-world business.
Since I’m in the camp of ‘I don’t have time for RPG’s’, I’m actually pretty darn excited about that. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll actually be able to play this one all the way through.
