The best Assassin’s Creed Odyssey mods you can enjoy while waiting for Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is launching in just a couple of months. With that in mind, I thought it was high time we dusted off the last game in the series and add some mods to improve it a little. These Assassin’s Creed Odyssey mods won’t transform the game into a Viking-filled assassin’s dream, but they will provide you with a fresh new experience.

Visual mods

These might not make the game look as good as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but they’ll get it pretty damn close. If you’re a graphics snob and want your Assassin’s Creed Odyssey experience to be blindingly awesome, then these are the mods you need.

Realistic Reshade for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

To start, this reshade mod is easily the most realistic look you can give to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The mod author spent hours painstakingly adjusting and tweaking the game’s visuals until they ended up with this incredible result. The mod excels when you’re out at sea, exploring the world at night, or standing in the middle of a battlefield. “Wow” doesn’t do this mod justice.

ACE Visual Overhaul Collection

If you’re looking for a visual mod that does everything in one, this is for you. It changes the way the game looks in a number of ways without going for that overly realistic look. Instead, there’s still everything from vanilla Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, it just looks a lot prettier. This mod can also be tweaked to how you want it to be, making it far more accessible than a collection of mods you might put together yourself.

Better Colors

This mod is a very simple color correction. While that might not sound like much, the change is honestly astounding. If you don’t want to mess with the base game too much, this might be the mod you need. All it does is change the colors around, but the outcome feels like a very fresh game indeed.

16-bit Graphics

When I stumbled upon this mod I couldn’t quite believe what I’d found. As you’d expect from the name, it gives Assassin’s Creed Odyssey pixelated graphics, transporting it back to the era of 16-bit games. I know that this won’t appeal to everyone, but for the few of you who are looking for a completely new way to experience this epic Assassin’s Creed story, look no further.

Gameplay

These Assassin’s Creed Odyssey mods will help you mix up the core gameplay. You might want a tougher experience, or just something different. Whatever it is, we’ve got you covered with at least one of these.

AC Odyssey Tweak Pack

If you don’t want a mod that’s going to completely change the game, then this could be the one you need. It’s a package that contains options for changing all sorts of settings, like horse speed restrictions, XP multipliers, enemy health, and even the removal of enemy data from the UI. It can be used to make a much more immersive experience, or just mix things up a bit. Think about it. You could have the fastest horse in the game, or face the strongest enemies to have ever graced ancient Greece.

Toggle HUD

This mod needs very little explanation. It allows you to turn on and off the HUD (heads-up display). This is the mod to go for if you want one of the most immersive Assassin’s Creed Odyssey playthroughs yet.

Removed Arrow Tracers

This is another great mod for immersion. It removes the tracers you see from firing arrows. It also removes the white and red tracer effects seen on melee weapons throughout the game. I agree with the mod author in that I find tracers annoying. They ruined part of the immersion in Assassin’s Creed Origins, and they’re just too much in Odyssey. Thankfully this mod makes them a thing of the past.

Aesthetics

These mods are purely for fun, but they do make distinct alterations to appearances without massively break the fourth wall.

Kassandra Wonderwoman

Okay, so maybe this first mod breaks the fourth wall a little. It gives you a fresh start with Kassandra, equipping her with legendary equipment like the Amazon Warrior Set, the Siphos Sword, and a matching Fang Bow. Even the perks have been set for you, making for an intersting, if not that unique, playthrough.

Younger Alexios

This mod does exactly what it says it will. It makes Alexios look younger, much younger. If you don’t want to run around with Alexios as he looks in the base game, this is a nice alternative.

Sphinx Outfit Without Warpaint

This is perhaps the simplest of the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey mods on the list. All it does is remove the war paint from the Sphinx outfit. That’s it! But it does look good though.

Alexios Better Body

I tend to opt to play as Kassandra most of the time in this game. I couldn’t tell you why, I think I just prefer her dry wit. This mod makes me question that, though. It basically makes Alexios more buff. A lot more buff. I can’t think of anything better than roleplaying as a dude who thinks his abs are so hard that he doesn’t need armor. That’s how I’d use this mod anyway.

Chrome Hades Set

This is another mod that tweaks an armor set that’s already in the game. It makes the Hades armor Set chrome, which I personally think is an improvement. If you fancy making Alexios or Kassandra look like they enjoy heavy metal, this mod will help you get there.

Younger Kassandra

Just like the mod that makes Alexios look younger, this mod makes Kassandra look a lot younger. I’ve never thought that there was anything wrong with the way Kassandra looks, but if you fancy playing as a slightly younger version of her, now you can.

Different Skin Tones for Kassandra

I think this mod is one of the best for those who want to play as a character they identify more with. Skin tone has never been anything you could tweak in the Assassin’s Creed series, but some players want to be able to change it so that the protagonist resembles them more. With this mod, you can do just that with Kassandra.

Different Skin Tones for Alexios

This mod does the exact same thing as the one above, but just for Alexios. Once again, it’s about making your Assassin’s Creed Odyssey experience as immersive as possible.

Tron Isu Helmet

I thought we’d end with a movie reference, and a great one at that. This mod adds Tron style lines to the Isu Armor Set helmet. It’s not going to transform the game into an entry in the Tron series, but it will make your character look incredible. If you combine it with the right type of spear, you might even feel like the combat matches up with some of the fight scenes in the movies as well.

Those are the best Assassin’s Creed Odyssey mods that you can pick up today. Any one of them is a great starting point for beefing up your game. Since there’s still a good number of weeks before we can start slaying Vikings and Saxons in the next entry, I think this is the best way to get back into the series before Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launches.
