Through the Wormhole explores the Shadow Universe tonight

Through The Wormhole with Morgan Freeman returns to the Science Channel for its fifth season with an episode that explores the shadow universe of dark matter.

Is There A Shadow Universe?  premieres on Wednesday, July 16 at 10PM ET/PT only on Science Channel

When we look up into the sky it appears we live in a universe that is filled with light. But scientists are now certain there is far more matter in the dark portions of our universe that we can’t see or touch.  There’s something hiding in the shadows. Cosmologists agree that “dark matter” has helped shape our Universe, but now they need to figure out what dark matter is. What’s going on in this hidden world? Could it have formed its own dark stars, planets, and even life forms? Could this Shadow Universe threaten our world of light?

Pretty easily one of the most interesting shows on TV Through the Wormhole actually takes a scientific (and straight factual) look at stuff like zombie apocalypses and world altering shifts of power. And of course, dark matter. Long recognized as a potentially cosmically important element that actually makes up way more of our universe than we can physically see, real proof of dark matter has eluded science for years.

Now there are advancements that just might be able to catch evidence of the elusive particles though, and that’s in part the focus of tonight’s newest episode of Through the Wormhole. It’s fascinating stuff, even if you’re not a science nut, especially since so much of this kind of stuff makes up the basis for much of the most popular sci-fi out there.

Facts to back up your favorite fiction? Sounds pretty cool, and with narration by Mr. Freeman, it’s kind of a can’t miss. You can catch Is There A Shadow Universe tonight on Science at 10pm eastern and pacific.
