Untitled Goose Game heads to Steam with a co-op mode in September

Untitled Goose Game is coming to Steam and Itch.io next month on September 23. The announcement came as part of today’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase, where developer House House announced a free multiplayer mode for the game, set to arrive on the same date next month. Untitled Goose Game originally released on September 20, 2019 on the Epic Games Store, MacOS, and the Nintendo Switch. With a release date three days after the one-year launch anniversary, House House is wasting no time in breaking out of the PC timed-exclusivity contract with Epic.

We don’t have any pricing details yet, though it’s safe to assume Untitled Goose Game will be $19.99 on Steam and Itch. When it first launched, there was a 25% discount, too. Untitled Goose Game released to critical acclaim last year, beating out Death Stranding and Disco Elysium in the 23rd annual DICE Awards. We didn’t take as kindly to it in our review, finding the game pleasant and amusing, but not quite worth its $20 asking price.

For PC gamers, the big news is that Untitled Goose Game is coming to Steam, but that wasn’t the focus of House House’s announcement. The free multiplayer update will add cooperative play to the game. From the trailer, which you can watch above, it doesn’t look like much more than that. The co-op mode is just Untitled Goose Game with a second goose. The Steam and Itch versions will have the multiplayer mode at launch.

If you’re looking to get your hands on a physical copy of Untitled Goose Game, House House also announced Switch and PS4 versions in collaboration with iam8bit. They’re priced $39.99 and $34.99, respectively. A vinyl copy of the game’s soundtrack is also listed for $29.99.

We have just over a month until Untitled Goose Game is finally available on Steam. It doesn’t look like House House is taking pre-orders, but you can add the game to your Steam wishlist in the meantime.
